Deborah has been appointed as an arbitrator in over 125 matters including employment, debt recovery, breach of contract and professional fee disputes. She is a global expert in alternative dispute resolution and dispute management, with emphasis on strategic and effective use of mediation and arbitration. She is a past Chair of the Dispute Resolution Section of the American Bar Association and current Chair of the International Mediation Institute.

Deborah recently led the rollout of American International Group Inc.’s (AIG) Employment Dispute Resolution Program to U.S domestic employees. She was recruited to AIG in 2003 to establish its Office of Dispute Resolution in the Litigation Management Division where she was responsible for the strategic use of ADR and increasing the effective methods of appropriate dispute resolution. In June 2005, the AIG Companies were honored by Dispute Resolution Services of Los Angeles with the Corporate Achievement Award for establishment of the Office of Dispute Resolution. In June 2011, Deborah was honored by the Association for Conflict Resolution, Greater New York Chapter with its ADR Achievement Award.
Prior to joining AIG, Deborah was Vice President of the East Central Region and head of Professional Development for JAMS The Resolution Experts. She made her mark in ADR at FINRA, previously NASD, where she led the dispute resolution program for 15 years. She has taught at Cardozo Law School, Fordham Law School and at several other New York City law schools, most notably Director of the Securities Arbitration Clinic at Brooklyn Law School.
She served on an IMI Task Force that established Mediation Advocacy certification criteria and the NYSBA Task Force on the Future of the Legal Profession.
She currently is a Co Chair of the Board of IMI and of the IMI Mixed Mode Task Force. She is a member of the American Arbitration Association's Commercial and Employment panels as well as the American Health Lawyers Association. She is a Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and Chair Elect of the NYSBA Dispute Resolution Section. She also is an International Accredited Professional Mediator for the Hong Kong Joint Mediation Center.
